FAQ: How does a watched session work?
In the help document, you’ll find information about watched and unwatched Session Recordings. This includes:
- How to mark a Session Recording as watched or unwatched
- How to use the session watched/unwatched filter
Important note: This watched or unwatched status is unique to your device and your account. Other team members won’t see which sessions you’ve viewed or not. Additionally, it won’t cross between the devices you use. The sessions you watch on your desktop won’t show as watched on your mobile device or tablet. Your watched sessions will also reset if you clear your cookies.
What is a watched session?
If you watch a Session Recording, whether for a few seconds or the whole session duration, the visitor’s session will be marked as watched within our system. This is a visible indicator that you’ve already viewed this session and is especially helpful as you sift through your Session Recordings.
Reminder: Sessions that are watched or unwatched are tied to your device and your account. Other members on your Lucky Orange account won’t see which sessions you’ve viewed or not nor can you see which sessions other members have watched. Sessions you watched on your desktop also won’t show as watched if you access your account on a tablet.
Additionally, the watched/unwatched status will be reset if you clear your cookies.

How do you use the session watched/unwatched filter?
From Visitors, you can add a filter to sort through the sessions to help you find the Session Recordings you want to watch.
- From Visitors, click on the Filter button located in the upper right corner of the page directly above the table
- Click on the Session Watched filter to open available options
- Select Watched or Unwatched
- Click Save Segment at the bottom of the filter drawer to save the filter(s) as a segment. Segments are your desired combinations of filters that can be easily accessed through our Segment drop-down at the top of the table in Visitors.
Can you manually mark a session as watched?
Yes! You can manually mark a session as watched or mark a previously watched session as unwatched.
- From Visitors, hover over the desired row of the session you want to change to watched or unwatched.
- Click the box that will show to the left of the visitor’s name or unique identifier. You can select one or more sessions if needed.
- Once selected, three options will populate at the top of the page
- Mark Selected Session As Watched OR Mark Selected Session As Unwatched
- Block Selected Visitors
- Delete Selected Sessions
- Click Mark Selected Sessions As Watched to manually mark the session as watched OR click Mark Selected Session As Unwatched to manually mark the session as unwanted
- The selected session(s) will instantly be marked as either watched or unwatched depending on your desired action
Note: If you select rows that are a mix of watched and unwatched sessions, you will only be prompted to mark them all as watched. In this case of bulk changes, you won’t be able to manually change the unwatched sessions to watched and the watched sessions to unwatched.
