How to get more out of your URLs

Your website is filled with numerous URLs, not to mention URLs used for specific campaigns or partnerships.  When you want to look at how a specific page or campaign link is performing, you can use Lucky Orange to do more than just evaluate your traffic. 

In this article:



Create URL-specific Events

Note: Account Owners, Admins and Creators can create Events.

  1. Navigate to Analytics from the left navigation
  2. Click on Events and select Manager
  3. Click on the purple Add New Event button
  4. Give the new Event a specific name for internal use. We recommend using a unique name that can be easily searched in the future. 
  5. Click the purple Next button
  6. Add the page URL:
    1. Contains: Paste part of a link into the field; This would be ideal for UTM parameters. 
    2. Exact: Select the desired URL from the “Select a URL” drop-down. This will automatically populate URLs for your webpages. 
  7. Click the purple Next button 
  8. Review your Event settings
  9. Click the purple Save button

Trigger Surveys, Announcements and Chat Invites based on URLs

Note: Account Owners, Admins and Creators can create Surveys, Announcements and Chat Invites.

  1. Navigate to Communicate from the left navigation
  2. Click on your desired communication type (Surveys, Announcements or Chat Invites)
  3. Continue through the creation process, including giving it a name and completing Step 1 of the setup process
  4. On Step 2: Triggers, click on Specific URL. Select one: 
    1. Contains: Instead of the entire URL, you can select specific keywords.  Ideal for UTM parameters (utm_source=facebook) or larger collections (For Him). 
    2. Exact: Paste the exact URL for the Survey, Announcement or Chat Invite 
  5. Continue through Step 3: Delivery and Step 4: Review
  6. Click the purple Launch button to make it live on your site or the gray Save button to save it without going live

Filter and create segments by visited pages, landing pages and exit pages

Note: Account Owners, Admins, Creators and Members can filter or create segments.

  1. Navigate to Visitors from the left navigation
  2. Click on Filter
  3. Select filters: 
    1. Visited page: Search for a specific URL or select from the top pages populated in the list
    2. Exit page: Search for a specific URL or select from the most popular exit pages populated in the list. This shows you the last page a visitor was on before leaving. 
    3. Landing page: Search for a specific URL or select from the most popular landing pages populated in the list. This shows you the  first page a visitor was on during their session. 
    4. UTM: If using a URL with UTM parameters, filter by specific parameters including UTM source, UTM Medium, UTM Term and UTM Campaign.  
  4. When ready, click the purple Done button or the gray Save Segment button. 

If saving the filters as a segment

  1. Give the segment a name for internal use
  2. Select if it’s for you or everyone
  3. Click the purple Save button

For future reference, you can use the dropdown by the date to select your segment. By default, the segment dropdown will show "Everyone." 


Add URL-specific steps to Funnels

Note: Account Owners, Admins and Creators can create Funnels.

  1. Navigate to Analytics from the left navigation
  2. Click on Funnels
  3. Select the purple New Funnel button
  4. Paste or type an internal name; this will show in the Funnel table
  5. Click the purple Next button
  6. Select Page URL
    1. Contains: Instead of the entire URL, you can select specific keywords.  Ideal for UTM parameters (utm_source=facebook) or larger collections (For Him). 
    2. Exact: Select from the URL drop-down; this will populate with URLs visited over the last 24-hours. 
  7. Complete the Funnel with your desired steps 
  8. Click the purple Done button to save and activate the funnel

See your top URLs in the Dashboard

Note: Account Owners, Admins, Creators and Members can edit or create a Dashboard.

  1. Navigate to Dashboard from the left navigation
  2. To add a card to your current Dashboard, click on the three dots in the upper right corner
  3. Select Add a Card
  4. Click on your desired card. We recommend:
    1. Top Pages to see the most popular webpages
    2. Events to monitor specific Events, including URL-based Events
  5. Customize the size of the card and name as it will display on your Dashboard
  6. Select the purple Save button
  7. If adding the Events card, click on the dropdown by Events to select a specific Event
  8. To monitor multiple Events from the same Dashboard, repeat the Add a Card process
