Why some visitors aren’t tracked

Lucky Orange captures the vast majority of visits and  interactions with your website, but some users may notice that other analytics tools, like Google Analytics, show a different number of site visitors.

Why does this happen? Here’s what could be happening:

  1. The visitor blocked themself from being tracked.  Lucky Orange provides the ability for your visitors to disable the Lucky Orange tracking on your site or globally across all sites that Lucky Orange is installed on.
  2. Lucky Orange’s tracking code isn’t placed on the page. Whether intentional or not, our tracking code must be properly input on the site in order to track the visitor. Make sure the code was placed before </header>, and check our installation guides for further assistance.
  3. A visitor’s IP address was blocked. Blocking a visitor prevents Lucky Orange from tracking their behavior or showing them your communication efforts. As a result, you won’t see them show up in live visitors, recordings and heatmaps. These blocked visitors also won’t be able to chat with your team, take surveys or see announcements. Learn more about unblocking visitors here.
  4. The visitor disabled JavaScript from loading in the browser. While nearly all websites are made possible by JavaScript, some visitors choose to disable it.
  5. The visitor is a bot, such as a web search engine. The Lucky Orange script ignores known bots as much as possible.
  6. They had some sort of add-on installed that blocked tracking. This would apply to all third party analytics tools, including Lucky Orange. These are extensions that some customers use to further protect their privacy.
  7. The browser was too old to work with Lucky Orange. HTML, CSS and JavaScript specifications change with time. Older browsers don’t support newer specifications, and Lucky Orange utilizes new specifications when we’re able to do so.
