Sometimes it’s necessary to block certain traffic from being tracked by Lucky Orange. Maybe you want to stop tracking internal traffic from your organization to get a better understanding of how your visitors are using your website. Or maybe you need to block abusive visitors from communicating with your team over chat.
Whatever the case may be, blocking a visitor’s IP address is the way to go - even if it’s your own.
What does blocking someone do?
It’s important to know what blocking an IP address within Lucky Orange does.
When you block an IP address through Lucky Orange, you aren’t preventing a visitor from coming to your website. Instead, you are telling our system that you don’t want that visitor to be tracked by our visitor behavior features or have access to customer-facing communication tools.
This means:
- Their clicks, moves, and scrolls won’t be included in dynamic heatmaps
- Form internationals won’t be tracked through form analytics
- Their sessions won’t be available through session recordings
- Their data won’t be captured and included in conversion funnels or the dashboard
- Communication through things like chat, surveys, and announcements won’t be accessible to them
Blocking someone is as permanent as you want it to be but can also be reversed. Click here to learn about unblocking a visitor.
Note: If you block your own IP address, you won’t be able to see your chat icon, away form, surveys, or other communication features.
