Managing Privacy Settings in Shopify Admin
Lucky Orange gives you control over how visitor data is captured and displayed through four privacy settings. This doc walks through what each one does and where to find them.
How do I get to Privacy Settings?
- From your Shopify Admin, find Apps in the left navigation and click Lucky Orange.
- In the expanded menu, click Settings.
- Scroll to the Privacy section.
What privacy settings are available?
Display and store visitor IP (off by default) For privacy considerations, visitor IP addresses are searchable but not stored by default. Turning this on allows you to track and display visitor IPs.
Scramble Text (off by default) Scramble Text (off by default) By default, Lucky Orange never displays information a visitor types into a form field — that's already masked automatically, regardless of this setting. Scramble Text adds an extra layer of privacy on top of that: when enabled, it randomizes other text visible on the page (text that isn't in a form field) during Session Recording playback, so sensitive information displayed elsewhere on the page isn't exposed. The visitor's actual experience on your site isn't affected, only what shows up in the recording.
Capture visitor recordings and interactions (off by default) Controls whether Lucky Orange captures Session Recordings, heatmap data, and form analytics at all. If you turn this off, you'll still receive basic data like URLs, traffic sources, and browsers — but no recordings, heatmaps, or form analytics.
How do I turn a setting on or off?
Each setting has its own switch — toggle it on or off directly in the Privacy section. Changes apply immediately but not retroactively.
