How to use Exit Intent
Surveys, announcements and chat invites can be triggered by a number of factors including time on site, scroll depth and visit number. You can also trigger these features by Exit Intent.
What is Exit Intent?
Exit intent is a trigger that launches a survey, announcement or chat invite based on the user’s mouse moving away from the browser window to change tabs or move to a new website. This behavior is called exit intent as they show signs of leaving your website.
Example: Let’s say you’re running an announcement that offers a discount code for free shipping to users who are about to leave your website. Using the exit intent trigger, the announcement would show once someone moved their mouse outside of the browser window.
Setting up the Exit Intent Trigger
- Create a new survey, announcement or chat invite. Or open settings for the existing one.
- Complete the initial setup required, such as a question for a survey or the content for an announcement
- Click on Triggers
- Under Delay, click on Event then from the dropdown, select Exit Intent.
- Proceed with the remaining steps, such as delivery settings and review before launching.
Note: Exit Intent is only available for use on Desktop. Tablet and Mobile will be grayed out.
