What do I do if my form isn’t automatically detected?
In most cases, your form will be automatically detected by the Lucky Orange system. If your form isn’t detected, there are two possible reasons and solutions:
Issue: Your form either isn’t placed within or use <form> HTML tags
Solution: You will need to custom-build your Form Analytics report.
- Launch Heatmaps for a page you have a form
- Navigate to Analytics from the left navigation within the Lucky Orange app
- Select Heatmaps from the available list; this should be the default selection when Analytics is opened.
- If necessary, search for the specific page your form is on
- Click on the gray Launch Heatmap button to the right of your desired page
- Select the Forms tab from the top of the heatmap
- From the dialogue box on the right, click on the blue Create new form button
- Enter a form name
- Select your desired conversion metric; we recommend using “Element clicked.”
- Click on the blue Add field button
- Select the blue magnifying glass button to choose a field on your form
- Move your mouse cursor over a field and click on it to select it. Field information will automatically populate in your field details in the dialogue box on the right.
- Click the green check mark to complete the field addition
- Select the pencil icon to modify the field name as needed
- Continue with the remaining form fields
Note: To use the DOM selector, you must have page interactions enabled. If your DOM selector isn’t tagging a form field, press SHIFT on your keyboard to toggle between the settings. If the DOM selector continues to not tag a form field, it’s more likely that your form is within an iFrame. Read on to find out possible solutions.
Issue: Your form is within an iFrame
Solution: We recommend finding a different third party for your form or checking with the form’s app support team to see if you can add the Lucky Orange code to the backend of the iFrame.
Don’t know if your form is within an iFrame? Here’s how to check:
- Open a Dynamic Heatmap for a page with the form in question on it
- Navigate to Analytics from the left navigation within the Lucky Orange app
- Select Heatmaps from the available list; this should be the default selection when Analytics is opened.
- If necessary, search for the specific page your form is on
- Click on the gray Launch Heatmap button to the right of your desired page
- If there isn’t click activity displayed on the form itself even though you’ve recently received form submissions or can see click details in the lower left corner of the page, the form is likely displayed in an iFrame.
