How to adjust visitor IP address display and storage settings
Lucky Orange takes privacy seriously. When someone visits a website using Lucky Orange, by default Lucky Orange uses hashing to reassign values to the visitor's IP address. As a result, the IP address itself isn’t known to or passing into our system.
When you search for an IP address in the Visitors’ Table, it also reassigns values to the IP address you’re searching for. If the reassigned values for both the visitor IP address and your searched IP address match, it will display visitors who match that IP address. However, Lucky Orange know what the IP address is, and the IP address won’t be shown in the search results.
Note: Before enabling IP address display and storage within Lucky Orange, we recommend speaking to a lawyer to ensure you are compliant with privacy laws in your country as well as your visitors’ countries. Click here to learn more about how Lucky Orange is compliant with GDPR and CCPA.
How Account Owners and Admins can adjust this setting:
- Navigate to Settings from the left navigation
- Select Privacy
- Click the toggle to the right of “Display and store visitor IP”
- When disabled, it will display in gray with the text, “Not active”
- When enabled, it will display in clue with the text, “Active”
Once enabled, IP addresses can be displayed in the Visitors’ Table by adding the IP address column. You will also be able to continue to search the Visitors’ Table by IP address.
