Creating and Managing Announcements in your Shopify Admin

Lucky Orange's Announcements let you message visitors directly on your site, all set up and managed from inside your Shopify Admin. This doc walks through three things: where to find Announcements, how to create and launch one, and how to read your results.

Where to access Announcements

How do I get to Announcements?

  1. From your Shopify Admin, find Apps in the left navigation and click Lucky Orange.
  2. In the expanded menu(View More), click Announcements.

What will I see on the Announcements page?

You'll land on a list of all your announcements, with a column for each of the following:

  • Name — the announcement's name
  • Status — Draft, Ready, Incomplete, Paused, Ended, or Active
  • Visitors Reached — how many visitors have seen the announcement
  • Total — total visitors eligible to see the announcement
  • Response Rate — the percentage of visitors who engaged with it

Each row also has a View Results link and a menu for additional actions.

Creating and launching an announcement

How do I start a new announcement?

Click New Announcement in the top-right corner of the Announcements page. You'll be guided through choosing a type, choosing a category, and then building the announcement itself.

What types of announcements can I create?

  • Sticker — a small call-to-action in the corner of a visitor's screen. Less interruptive to visitors.
  • Lightbox — a full-screen takeover for important messages. Very interruptive, so use it sparingly.

Why do I need to choose a category?

Selecting a category helps track which types of announcements perform best, and gives merchants (and eventually visitors) more control over what they see. Categories are:

  • Offers & Promotions — sales and promotions, e.g. a coupon code
  • Education & Events — ongoing product education and events, e.g. a webinar
  • News & Updates — important, infrequent messages, e.g. upcoming downtime

Once you've chosen a type and category, the builder walks you through four steps (shown here for a Lightbox announcement — the Sticker builder follows the same steps):

Step 1: Content Write your headline and optional supporting text, then add an image if you'd like one. Choose where the image sits (Left Side, Right Side, or Top), and set the Button Action — either Dismiss or Go To URL — along with the button's label. You can also toggle Reverse Colors to display white text over a color fill.

Step 2: Triggers Decide when and where the announcement appears. Choose Simple or Advanced trigger options, then set:

  • Location on website — Any Page or Specific URL
  • Devices — Any Device, Desktop, Tablet, or Mobile
  • Delay — No Delay, Time, Scroll, or Event
  • Need more precise targeting? Toggle to Advanced trigger options for additional control over when and where this announcement appears.

Step 3: Delivery Set how long the announcement should run — Ongoing, 1 Week, 2 Weeks, or 1 Month. Once launched, you can also pause and resume it as needed.

Step 4: Review Double check everything, then hit Launch. As you build, the right-hand panel shows a live preview of exactly how the announcement will look to visitors.

Before launching, it's worth reviewing your Appearance settings — like Accent Color — since these are shared across Surveys, Announcements, and Chat and will affect how this one looks to visitors.

Viewing announcement results

How do I view results for an announcement? From the Announcements list, click View Results on any live or ended announcement.

What will I see on the results page?

At the top, you'll see the announcement's name, status, and category, along with action buttons to Pause, Delete, Edit Settings, or Duplicate it.

Below that, tabs let you switch between:

  • Summary — a high-level overview (see below)
  • Visitors — the list of visitors who were reached
  • Settings — the announcement's configuration

What does the Summary tab show?

Two key metrics at a glance:

  • Response Rate — percentage and raw count of visitors who responded, out of visitors reached
  • Visitors Reached — total visitors shown the announcement

Below that, two charts give you more detail:

  • A bar chart comparing Views vs. Responses
  • A donut chart breaking down visitors by device — Desktop, Mobile, and Tablet — with counts and percentages for each
