Building and Managing Surveys in your Shopify Admin

Lucky Orange's Surveys let you ask visitors questions right on your site, all set up and managed from inside your Shopify Admin. This doc walks through three things: where to find Surveys, how to build and launch one, and how to read your results.

Where to access Surveys

How do I get to Surveys?

  1. From your Shopify Admin, find Apps in the left navigation and click Lucky Orange.
  2. In the expanded menu, click Surveys.

What will I see on the Surveys page?

You'll land on a list of all your surveys, with a column for each of the following:

  • Name — the survey's name
  • Status — Draft, Ready, Incomplete, Paused, Ended, or Active
  • Visitors Reached — how many visitors have seen the survey
  • Total — total visitors eligible to see the survey
  • Response Rate — the percentage of visitors who responded

Each row also has a link to either Open Settings (for surveys still being set up) or View Results (for surveys that are live or have ended), plus a menu for additional actions.

Building and launching a survey

How do I start a new survey?

Click New Survey in the top-right corner of the Surveys page. The builder walks you through six steps:

Step 1: Invite Decide whether to show visitors an invitation step before the survey questions — this sets expectations and can boost response rates, especially if you add an incentive. Choose Yes to include it, or No, skip this to go straight to your questions. If included, you can customize the invite question, subtitle, and the labels on the accept/dismiss buttons.

Step 2: Question Write your question and add answer choices — 4 to 5 choices are recommended. You can toggle on Allow multiple answers to be selected, and use Add Another Question to build a multi-question survey.

Step 3: Thank You Write the message visitors see after they respond. You can also turn on Allow Additional Feedback to collect an open-text follow-up.

Step 4: Triggers Decide when and where the survey appears:

  • Location on website — Any Page or a Specific URL
  • Devices — Any Device, Desktop, Tablet, or Mobile
  • Delay — No Delay, Time-based, Scroll-based, or Event-based
  • Need more precise targeting? Toggle to Advanced trigger options for additional control over when and where this survey appears.

Step 5: Delivery Set how long the survey should run — Ongoing, 1 Week, 2 Weeks, or 1 Month.

Step 6: Review Double check everything, then hit Launch. As you build, the right-hand panel shows a live preview of exactly how the survey will look to visitors.

Before launching, it's worth reviewing your Appearance settings — like Accent Color — since these are shared across Surveys, Announcements, and Chat and will affect how this one looks to visitors.

Viewing survey results

How do I view results for a survey? From the Surveys list, click View Results on any live or ended survey.

What will I see on the results page?

At the top, you'll see the survey's name, status, and when it began, along with action buttons to Pause, Delete, Edit Settings, or Duplicate the survey.

Below that, tabs let you switch between:

  • Summary — a high-level overview (see below)
  • Questions — a breakdown by individual question
  • Visitors — the list of visitors who were reached
  • Settings — the survey's configuration

A search bar is also available to help you locate a survey.

What does the Summary tab show?

Three key metrics at a glance:

  • Response Rate — percentage and raw count of respondents out of visitors reached
  • Visitors Reached — total visitors shown the survey
  • Avg. Time to Start — how long it took visitors to begin responding

Below that, a Top Answers section shows each question with its most-selected answer, the response count, percentage, and a progress bar for a quick visual read.
